Colas Schretter completed his M.Sc. degree in computer science with great honors in 2003 and received an additional Master of advanced studies in 2006 from the Université libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. He moved to Germany in February 2007 for a scientist position with Philips Research, Aachen. Meanwhile, he earned a Marie Curie EST fellowship for his doctoral thesis, endorsed with magna cum laude by the Otto-von-Guericke University, Magdeburg.
Afterwards, he was awarded a Marie Curie ERG grant for a postdoctoral project at the RWTH Aachen University. He was visiting researcher at the Politecnico di Milano, in Italy. Colas’ work as a fellow combined emergent machine learning techniques with classical geometrical algorithms for solving large density estimation problems with multi-resolution (scale-space) semi-parametric Gaussian mixture models.
